Duties

  • Field work will include site characterization, geologic mapping, and geomechanical core logging
  • Data reduction including stereographic, statistical, and geospatial analyses
  • Technical reporting and documentation of field work and analysis work

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geology, geological engineering, or related discipline
  • 0-5 years’ experience
  • The position involves domestic and international travel
  • Professional registration considered a plus

Underground Rock Mechanics Engineer

We are seeking an entry-level to mid-level underground rock mechanics engineer to join our consulting group based in Tucson, AZ.

Duties

  • Perform rock mechanics stability analysis for underground mining operations
  • Evaluation of rock-mass strengths and material properties
  • Design of ground support systems for hard rock mines
  • Empirical and analytical analysis of stopes, pillars, and shafts
  • Use of stereographic projections to analyze geologic structure data
  • Field work will include site characterization, geologic mapping, and geomechanical core logging
  • Technical reporting and documentation of field work and analysis work

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, mining engineering, geology, or related discipline
  • 2-10 years’ experience in underground hard rock mining
  • Must be familiar with the design of support systems, shotcrete, and backfill
  • The position may occasionally involve domestic and international travel

Hydrogeologist

We are seeking an entry-level to mid-level hydrogeologist to join our expanding hydrogeological services group based in Tucson, AZ.

Duties

  • Work with our groundwater and geotechnical modeling group providing support for the development of coupled geotechnical-hydrogeological models
  • Support development of conceptual and numerical groundwater flow models optimized for use in geotechnical stability models
  • Provide support to develop datasets required to couple the geotechnical-hydrogeological models; construction of geological models; hydrogeological analysis using analytical methods; development of appropriate datasets for calibrating coupled models
  • Assist in the development of variably saturated models
  • General office duties include: preparation of drawings, general data analysis, and written summaries of work conducted
  • General field duties include: installation of fully grouted piezometers, installation of open standpipe piezometers, and well/aquifer tests using a variety of methods

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, or related discipline
  • 0-5 years’ experience
  • Course work in groundwater modeling required
  • Course work in geotechnical or mining engineering a plus but not required
  • Course work/experience using AutoCAD, ArcGIS, FEFLOW, MODFLOW
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
